Unforgotten

Unforgotten was created to preserve the memories of innocent lives that were unjustly taken at the hands of those who've sworn to protect all citizens. This series made initially from laser-cut felt fabric, also exists as a mural located in Birmingham, Alabama, that depicts the lives of Sandra Bland, Jordan Edwards, and Philando Castile.

Sandra Bland

A leader, an activist,
a Queen

On June 9th, Sandra Bland, a social media activist, was optimistic about her new job prospect at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, her alma mater. On June 10th, she was arrested for what started as a minor traffic signal violation. On July 13th, Sandra Bland was found hanging in her cell at Waller County Jail.

Jordan Edwards

A friend, a son, a Light

Jordan Edwards was a 15 year old straight-A student who played football at Mesquite High School in Dallas, Texas. He was shot by Dallas officer Roy Oliver, who fired multiple shots and reportedly “flipped off” Edwards and his brothers as they were leaving a house party. Although Oliver claimed that the car aggressively drove towards him, police footage showed them driving away from the officer.

Philando Castile

A mentor, a giver, a Hero

What started as a routine traffic stop ended in the death of Philando Castile, a nutrition specialist who worked for Saint Paul Public School. Castile, who memorized the names and food allergies of 500 children daily, was shot seconds after reaching into his wallet, despite informing officer Yanez that he possessed a gun and was permitted to carry a firearm. The incident was witnessed by Diamond Reynolds while her 4 year old daughter was in the backseat.
